DALLAS — Spirit Airlines (NK) has unveiled a significant refresh to its customer experience proposition, including a reimagined extra-legroom seat product and substantive upgrades to its Free Spirit loyalty program.
The enhancements are part of NK's initiative to enhance its low-cost model with greater comfort and value for volume travelers.
Go Comfy Adds New Seating Option
Starting May 15, NK travelers can pre-book the carrier's new extra-legroom seats with a 32-inch pitch, two inches more than regular economy. The popular seating block comprises more than 40 seats in seven rows closer to the front of the plane and will be introduced in June 2025. A full fleet-wide application is anticipated by 2026.
Go Comfy now encompasses more than just additional space. Customers will get a carry-on bag, priority boarding, assigned bin space, a snack and drink, and reduced change and cancellation fees. As NK sunsets blocked middle seats to make room for this new product, Go Comfy will provide a simplified experience for customers who want more comfort.

Revamped Free Spirit Loyalty Program
At the same time, NK is introducing several enhancements to its Free Spirit® program. Status members and Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard card members will be able to receive free upgrades to Big Front or Comfy Seats upon boarding, on a space-available and tier-level basis. One companion on the same reservation is included.
Members can now redeem points on all fare packages, including higher-end options like Go Big and Go Comfy. Towards the end of 2025, the Travel More card will provide two complimentary checked bags per trip, with complete benefit details to be announced.
In addition, NK will introduce a Free Spirit Debit Card later this fall, allowing customers to earn points on daily purchases. Card members will enjoy Group 2 priority boarding and a 25% discount on in-flight purchases.
Spirit continues to grow beyond the traditional low-cost confines, providing greater flexibility and value-added improvements to meet changing passenger expectations more closely. The action follows recent awards for safety, affordability, and fleet sustainability, placing the airline competitively in the leisure travel segment.
