DALLAS — Wizz Air (W6) has revealed expansion plans for its Romanian operations, including six new foreign routes out of Timișoara and Brașov and a third aircraft based in Timișoara.
The expansion solidifies the airline's foothold in central and western Romania before the Winter 2025 season. Flights from Brașov International Airport (GHV) will start serving Larnaca, Nuremberg, Basel, Frankfurt Hahn, and Naples from October.
According to Romania Insider, the new aircraft will add over 198,000 seats from Timișoara International Airport (TSR), a 62% boost on last winter's schedule. Frequency will also be increased on three current routes from TSR to Bari, Baden-Baden, and Dortmund, each flying four times a week from October 2025.
Wizz Air is expanding its Brașov operations in central Romania by introducing a new route to Nuremberg in October with Monday, Wednesday, and Friday flights. This complements their announced service from Brașov to Naples in the same month.
Therefore, passengers from GHV will enjoy five routes this winter: Budapest, Dortmund, London Luton, Naples, and Nuremberg. Founded in Romania in 2006, Wizz Air operates 182 routes linking 13 Romanian airports with 71 destinations in 24 countries.
Seven bases have been established around the country at Bucharest Băneasa, Bucharest Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași, Sibiu, and Timișoara airports, where more than 1,500 Romanian citizens are employed.
