DALLAS— Qazaq Air (IQ) and Vietjet (VJ) have announced the launch of a strategic partnership, establishing a new low-cost carrier, Vietjet Qazaqstan.
The move represents a step forward in strengthening Vietjet’s international presence and enhancing air connectivity between Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
The announcement was made during the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable, held as part of Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Kazakhstan. This initiative marks a significant development in Central Asia’s aviation industry and further affirms Vietjet’s growing role in global air transport.
Vietjet Qazaqstan is expected to become a key player in connecting Vietnam with Kazakhstan and major international destinations. The airline’s operations will contribute to improving trade and logistics in the region, boosting tourism in both the region and Southeast Asia.
Additionally, it will enhance regional connectivity and generate new employment opportunities, promoting economic development in both countries and the broader region.

New Airline, Fleet
As part of the agreement, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance issued a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate to Aviation Holdings, a Vietjet subsidiary.
The new airline will operate as a modern, cost-efficient carrier designed to meet the rising demand for flights not only within Kazakhstan but also beyond. This allows Vietjet to acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air (IQ).
The planned fleet will consist of at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft, with a development focus on comprehensive training, modern operational practices, and the installation of advanced digital management systems and next-generation avionics.
To support this, Vietjet Qazaqstan signed a comprehensive customer service agreement with Boeing, which will ensure full technical support, spare parts, pilot and engineer training, as well as aircraft modifications.
