HANOI — The global post-COVID-19 readjustment continues with Vietnam Airlines’ (VN) reintroduction of bi-weekly service to major international hubs, including Russia and China.
After three years of suspension during the pandemic, the inaugural flight, coded VN63, departed from Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) at 9:45 a.m. on May 8 and arrived at Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) in Moscow at 3:40 p.m. local time. The flight was at full capacity with 254 passengers on board.
The Hanoi-Moscow nonstop route has now resumed direct Tuesday and Thursday flights on VN's Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It is expected to operate thrice a week by the Summer of 2026.
Flight VN063 is scheduled to depart HAN at 10:45 and arrive at SVO at 15:40, with the returning flight VN062 leaving Moscow at 17:40 and arriving in Hanoi at 06:05.
Beijing Nonstop Returns
While the SVO route is among the newest VN additions to previously expanded international destinations, including London, Milan, and Frankfurt, and anticipated service to Perth, Australia, the Vietnamese flag carrier has also expanded connection destinations between Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing, anticipating increased demand as travel restrictions are eased and tourism and business are reinvigorated.
Positive passenger response and a steady increase in ticket bookings suggest VN’s growing, modern fleet will be used in anticipation of unveiling new and pre-existing routes.
