Air Canada Expands Ops at YTZ  with New U.S. Routes

TORONTOAir Canada (AC)has announced a significant expansion at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), introducing new routes to four major U.S. cities and increasing domestic frequencies to Montréal and Ottawa.

The move represents the airline's most significant growth at Toronto Island in 35 years and coincides with the soon-to-be-launched U.S. Customs Pre-Clearance at the airport.

New U.S. Flights Begin Spring 2026

Effective spring 2026, Air Canada will launch new non-stop return services from Billy Bishop to New York's LaGuardia (four times daily), Boston Logan (three times daily), Chicago O'Hare (twice daily), and Washington Dulles (daily).

These new routes will be operated by Jazz Aviation using 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. These new flights are tailored for business travelers, with convenient timing that links the heart of Toronto's financial core with key U.S. markets.

Starting January 2026, Air Canada will grow its domestic services at Billy Bishop: increasing Montréal service from eight to nine daily return flights and Ottawa from four to six.

These additions strengthen the busy Eastern Triangle corridor, making it easier for frequent flyers to travel between Canada’s major business hubs.

Enhanced Passenger Experience

Air Canada continues to enhance the travel experience at Billy Bishop. It recently became the first airline to introduce fast, free Wi-Fi on De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft—a first worldwide—alongside complimentary premium snacks, beer, and wine.

Eligible customers can also access the Aspire Air Canada Café for a quiet pre-flight experience.

Cabin Redesign for Regional Fleet

To further enhance comfort, 25 Dash 8-400s will have a complete cabin redesign by mid-2026. The jet will introduce new ergonomic Expliseat seats, multi-use device holders, and refreshed interiors reflecting Canadian landscapes. This will unify the aesthetics of regional aircraft with those of Air Canada's mainline fleet.

These enhancements reinforce Air Canada's commitment to connectivity, convenience, and comfort for both domestic and transborder travellers at YXT.
