BOGOTA — Avianca (AV) has opened its new Diamond International VIP lounge at Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG), presenting it as a flagship upgrade for Lifemiles elite and premium travelers as the airline focuses on enhancing its premium offerings.
Avianca stated the lounge covers approximately 7,535 square feet and is projected to serve 150,000 Lifemiles members in 2026. This addition brings the airline’s total to 12 lounges across seven destinations. Eligible customers also have access to over 1,000 lounges worldwide through the Star Alliance network.
The remodeled lounge, located in El Dorado’s international terminal, is exclusive to Lifemiles Diamond members and eligible premium passengers. AV notes the design is inspired by Colombian geography, referencing mountains, artisanal processes, and orchids. Amenities focus on speed and comfort, including relaxation seating, dedicated work areas, and a central bar offering signature cocktails and premium spirits.
Ralph Piket, Chief Loyalty Officer of Abra Group, stated the goal is to deliver a consistent premium experience across all customer touchpoints, from airport arrival to destination. He added that Avianca expects the Bogotá lounge to host over 150,000 members this year.
Avianca noted this opening follows other recent premium-focused additions at Bogotá, such as the Diamond Domestic Lounge and the Insignia check-in product at BOG. The airline reported carrying over 37 million passengers in 2025, operating more than 262,000 flights at an average of about 700 flights per day. Avianca also highlighted Colombia as a key market, with 27 million international travelers arriving between 2023 and 2025.
