Avianca Cargo Adds New A330-200 Freighter to Fleet

DALLAS — Avianca Cargo (QT) is expanding its cargo operations with the addition of a new A330-200P2F (Passenger to Freighter). The aircraft joins Avianca Cargo’s fleet, which is operated in partnership with Avianca Cargo Mexico, bringing the total to nine A330 freighters, six of which are A330Fs.

This new freighter has a capacity of more than 60 tons and is more fuel-efficient, with higher payload and volume capacities compared to other mid-size freighters. These features align with Avianca Cargo’s aim of providing service and flexibility on medium-haul routes.

“At Avianca Cargo, we celebrate the expansion of our fleet with the arrival of the new A330P2F freighter, an aircraft with more than 13 years of history that now joins us to reaffirm our commitment to connectivity and service,” said Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo. “Today, we reach more than 350 destinations with an expanded network and continue to grow our connections to new markets.”

Flower Transport

Avianca Cargo has been a leader in the transportation of flowers for some time, flying more than 100,000 tons of flowers from Ecuador and Colombia to the U.S., Europe, and Asia. QT has invested in this service and has opened an 850-square-meter space at the Medellin (MDE) terminal, which has increased handling capacity by 50%. The company also reconfigured its cooler facility in Miami (MIA) to increase capacity by 83%.

“We are proud to be a strategic partner and leader in flower transport,” Elias continued. “This year we reaffirmed our leadership in shipments to the U.S., set a historic record, and achieved 8% growth during peak seasons, outpacing the sector.”
