DALLAS — BOC Aviation has agreed to purchase nine Airbus A320neo aircraft from Airbus, which are already on long-term lease agreements with Avianca (AV).
They will be equipped with CFM LEAP-1A engines and are scheduled for delivery in 2027, to be deployed as part of AV's fleet renewal program.
This deal emphasizes the importance of next-generation aircraft that BOC Aviation decided to pursue. It not only guarantees extremely efficient aircraft but also builds upon the strategic relationship with the Colombian flag carrier, one of the largest carriers in Latin America. This deal promises significant benefits for all sides.
Comments from BOC Aviation, Avianca
"We are pleased to be returning to Avianca as it continues to expand its network across the rapidly expanding Latin American markets. These deliveries position us well for incremental future growth.”, stated Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director at BOC Aviation.
Francisco Raddatz, ABRA Group's Chief Procurement Officer and Avianca's owner, emphasized, "This transaction supports our fleet renewal strategy and our commitment to operating modern, fuel-efficient aircraft."
With a base at BOG (Bogotá El Dorado Airport), AV's new fleet will be more efficient, have reduced emissions, and provide a better passenger experience on its network. The transaction is a key step in both carriers' long-term growth strategies and demonstrates their commitment to international sustainable objectives.
