Finnair Sets Its New Winter Record for Lapland Flights

VANTAA Finnair (AY) will operate a record number of flights to Finnish Lapland this winter 2025/26, increasing its capacity to respond to growing demand for travel to the Arctic region.

The Finnish flag carrier will add weekly frequencies to the sought-after winter resort towns of Rovaniemi, Ivalo, and Kittilä, concentrating on peak travel days near weekends, usually rental cottage turnaround days.

Lapland Flight Schedule

Finnair will fly as many as 72 weekly services to Rovaniemi—10 more than the previous winter—with up to 16 daily services on Saturdays and 14 on Sundays during peak travel times.

Kittilä, popular with tourists traveling to Levi and Ylläs, will be up to 41 times a week, seven more than during the last winter season, and up to eight times a day on Saturdays and Sundays. Ivalo, the northernmost destination for the airline in Finland, will have up to 33 flights a week, supplemented with additional frequencies on Saturdays and Sundays.

Finnair is also adding service to Kuusamo, one of the other favorite northern Finnish winter destinations, with two additional Saturday and Sunday flights. The carrier noted that while the added flights are focused on high season from December through February, increased service will also carry over into March to accommodate the entire length of the winter travel season.
