flydubai Seals Major Deal for 150 A321neo jets

DUBAI — After selecting the GEnx-1B engine for its Boeing 787 fleet on DAS2025 Day 1, flydubai (FZ) has moved the needle forward by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 150 of its brand-new A321neo aircraft.

This agreement makes the A321neo the very first Airbus order from FZ, signed at the 2025 Dubai Airshow in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Airbus CEO Christian Scherer, and flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith.

His Highness stated that this deal with Airbus marks a significant step in FZ’s growth and supports Dubai’s long-term vision under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to double its economy by 2033 through 100+ projects focusing on innovation, infrastructure, and sustainable growth.

He further stated that the order for the A321neo will enhance and diversify flydubai’s narrow-body fleet, which already includes the Boeing 737 MAX. This order will further allow Dubai World Central (DWC) as it aims to become the world’s largest airport.

The A321neo offers impressive range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort, making it a marquee choice for any airline. As flydubai aims to hop on the train, it can also expect the A321neo to deliver flawless performance, enhancing its fleet. Christian Scherer, Airbus CEO, further emphasized that the A321neo has more than a 20% reduction in fuel burn and CO₂ emissions compared to previous single-aisle models.

With the A321neo already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Airbus is targeting to achieve 100% SAF capability by 2030. Airbus has received 7,200 orders for the A321neo aircraft from nearly 100 customers worldwide as of October 2025, with many more on the way.
