SANTIAGO DE CHILE — LATAM Airlines (LA) completed the refurbishment of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner’s cabin retrofit along with eight 787-8s.
The cabin upgrade project was introduced in 2021, with 24 Dreamliners receiving new cabins. As of now, two 787-8s and thirteen 787-9s are yet to be retrofitted in the coming years.

New Cabin
The upgraded cabin will feature new Premium, Business, and Economy Class seats as well as restrooms, galleys, and in-flight entertainment systems. Latam will be the very first airline to install rest areas outside of Boeing facilities.

Retrofitting Process
Each retrofit process involves up to 150 people across different departments in Latam, installing 2,500 new parts sourced from over 70 suppliers, and taking 6 to 9 weeks per aircraft.
