FRANKFURT — Following complex negotiations between the Lufthansa Group and Globalia, Lufthansa (LH) decided to abandon its plan to bid for a stake in Spanish Air Europa (UX).
"After thorough analysis and intensive negotiations, we have decided against taking a stake in Air Europa at this time," said Lufthansa’s spokesperson.
International Airlines Group (IAG) owns a 20% stake in UX. In 2024, IAG planned to acquire Air Europa fully; however, it failed to get the necessary regulatory approvals.
At the moment, Turkish Airlines (TK) remains the only known bidder for a stake in the Spanish carrier.
Lufthansa Group remains interested in acquiring a 19.9% stake in Portuguese carrier TAP Air Portugal (TP).
