Lufthansa Group to Offer Starlink on all Its Airline Fleets

FRANKFURT — The Lufthansa Group (LH) has announced a significant improvement to its connectivity program across all its airlines through a partnership with Starlink. This will enable high-speed internet connectivity onboard all of the group’s aircraft, including existing and future ones, as of 2026.

The deal will involve equipping approximately 850 aircraft with the Starlink satellite-based system, which will deliver significantly higher bandwidth for streaming, cloud-based work, and real-time applications. The rollout is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, with full fleet completion targeted for 2029.

Investing in Customer Experience

Under the new model, high-speed internet is set to be provided free to status customers and Travel ID users across all cabin classes, a shift toward integrated digital services throughout the journey. The move positions LH as the largest airline group in Europe to adopt Starlink connectivity at scale.

The connectivity upgrade forms part of the Group's broader investment program in premium products, digital innovation, and new aircraft. LH said onboard connectivity has become a core element of the passenger experience-particularly as expectations for seamless, ground-like internet access continue to rise across long- and short-haul operations.
