GENEVA — SITA has agreed to acquire Collins Aerospace Airport Solutions, adding passenger-processing, baggage and airport operations technology to its business if the transaction closes as planned.
Announced on October 15, 2026, the deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals. SITA did not disclose a purchase price in its announcement.
The Collins business supplies systems used from check-in and self-service kiosks through bag drop and airport operations. SITA says the combination will expand its capabilities and improve support for airport and airline customers.
Nathalie Altwegg, SITA’s senior vice president for airports, said a technology provider needed to understand each airport’s environment, work with its teams and be available when support was needed.
SITA has already expanded its passenger-processing business through acquisitions. In July 2024, it reported completing the regulatory and legal procedures to acquire Materna IPS, whose products included common-use check-in and self-service bag-drop systems.
That November, SITA announced the formal integration of IPS into its airport portfolio. The products included kiosks, touchless scanners and printers as well as bag-drop equipment. The proposed Collins purchase would add another airport systems business to that portfolio.
SITA’s baggage work also extends to tracing delayed luggage. Airways previously reported on passenger-shared Google Find Hub locations being integrated into WorldTracer, allowing airline baggage teams to view that information within their recovery system.
The October 15 acquisition announcement does not specify a timetable for integrating Collins products or migrating customers.
