TSA PreCheck Touchless ID Available for AAdvantage Members

FORT WORTH — This week, American Airlines (AA) AAdvantage members became eligible for a simplified process at the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) airport security checkpoints through TSA PreCheck Touchless ID.

The new AA perk is only available at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

The airline says “expansion will continue at airports across the system in the coming months in close collaboration with TSA, with a focus on hub airports.”

How It Works

American says its consumers will be able to pass through security more quickly and easily once an identity match compares their picture to those they have already given to the government, such as those on a passport, Global Entry, or Visa card.

Before travel, AAdvantage members, 18 years and older, will be prompted to opt in by providing the following to confirm their eligibility:

  • AAdvantage number
  • Valid passport information
  • Known Traveler Number (KTN)

“We’re examining every aspect of the customer experience,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer.

“TSA Precheck® Touchless ID helps streamline our customers’ travel experience and makes travel with us even more enjoyable. We look forward to it becoming available to even more customers in the coming months.”

In their AAdvantage profile on aa.com, members can choose to opt in at any time. They can use their ID at any time and will only need to renew their membership annually. More details regarding newly participating airports will be sent to AAdvantage members.
