ULCC Wizz Air Launches New Premium Fare Class

BUDAPEST — Hungarian Ultra-Low-Cost carrier ULCC Wizz Air (W6) has introduced its new “Wizz Class” fare for row one of its all-economy Airbus A320 family fleet.

Trialled since December, the new premium option is now available on select flights to and from Budapest (BUD), Warsaw (WAW), Bucharest (OTP), Rome (FCO), London Luton (LTN), and London Gatwick (LGW).

The product is similar to many European business-class products, offering a blocked middle seat (only seats 1B and 1E in this case), extra legroom at the forward bulkhead, and a free soft drink and snack. Wizz Class is an add-on to Wizz’s existing Smart and Plus fares, which include priority boarding and a 10-kilo carry-on. The add-on fare starts at €50.

Wizz Chief Commercial Officer Silvia Mosquera said in a statement that “business travel is growing across our network, and we’ve listened to what our passengers want. They’re asking for a bit more space and speed, but they don’t want to pay legacy airline prices.”

“Wizz Class answers that demand—offering passengers the room they crave and the service they deserve, without compromising our simple, convenient model. We are also committed to staying a single-class carrier with our efficiency targets,” she continued.

The Romanian ULCC currently operates a fleet of 26 Airbus A320-200, six A320neo, 36 A321-200, 167 A321neo (the world’s largest operator), and six A321XLR. They also have orders for another 265 A321neo and five A321XLR, with plans to deliver 432 A321neo by 2033. All 241 aircraft are fitted with all economy layouts ranging from 180 to 239 seats.
