SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines (AS) has launched a daily seasonal service between Hollywood Burbank (BUR) and Honolulu (HNL).
This route opens up a fourth Los Angeles gateway for passengers traveling between California and Hawaii this summer. The daily flight is operated with a Boeing 737–8 MAX aircraft. This non-stop service will continue until August 18.
"Together, we are able to offer guests traveling between California and Hawaii the most seats, flights, and destinations, providing unmatched access, flexibility, and choice,” said Neil Thwaites, Vice President of Global Sales and California commercial performance at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
Alaska Airlines' expanded reach
The new service provides a convenient option for journeys between Hawaii and the Los Angeles region (and beyond), thanks to the expanding network of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
The addition of Burbank brings the combined company’s California-Hawaii network to nine airports. These include Burbank (BUR), Los Angeles (LAX), Long Beach (LGB), Oakland (OAK), Ontario (ONT), Sacramento (SMF), San Diego (SAN), San Francisco (SFO), and San Jose (SJC).
Non-stop service is offered daily between Honolulu and all nine California cities, with additional non-stop options from Kahului (OGG), Līhuʻe (LIH), and Kona (KOA), including seasonal service during key travel periods.
This year, Alaska and Hawaiian are scheduled to operate nearly 23,000 flights connecting California and Hawaii. This is indeed the most out of all US carriers, reflecting the scale of growing demand for Hawaii.
