EVA Air Evaluates Four Long-Haul Destinations, Expects First A350-1000 in Late 2027

TAIPEI — EVA Air (BR) expects to receive its first Airbus A350-1000 in the fourth quarter of 2027 as the carrier evaluates additional destinations in Europe and North America.

“We continue to evaluate potential growth opportunities in North America—Boston, Europe—Barcelona (Spain), Helsinki (Finland), and Istanbul (Turkey), and Asia, while carefully balancing market demand, fleet availability, and operational efficiency,” EVA Air told Airways.

The four cities remain under evaluation. The airline has not announced launch dates, schedules or aircraft assignments for any of them.

A350-1000 Fleet Plan

EVA Air has 24 firm A350-1000s on order. Airbus confirmed the total in April 2025 after the carrier finalized a firm order for six additional aircraft.

The airline plans to use the A350-1000 to replace part of its Boeing 777-300ER fleet and support further growth. EVA Air also intends to extend leases on some 777-300ERs as it manages the transition, following its December 2025 decision to retain four leased aircraft and order four more 787-9s.

EVA Air's fleet listing as of August 1 shows nine 787-9s and 13 787-10s in service. Eight more 787-9s and four 787-10s remain to be delivered, taking the Dreamliner fleet to 34 aircraft—17 of each variant—with deliveries continuing through 2033, according to the airline.

Cabin and Connectivity Plans

EVA Air says it has begun developing a cabin-upgrade program for its 777-300ERs. The planned work would cover seats across all classes, the in-flight entertainment system and cabin amenities. The statement and annual report do not specify the final configuration or completion schedule.

The carrier's 2025 annual report identified 2026 as the program's start year and said the work would include changes to the cabin layout.

As part of its broader onboard-product planning, EVA Air is also reviewing future connectivity options. “We are actively evaluating various prospective partnerships to provide reliable, high-quality Wi-Fi while prioritizing flight safety and system stability,” the airline said.

North American Growth

The possible Boston service would continue a period of North American expansion. EVA Air launched Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)–Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) service on October 3, 2025. Airways joined the inaugural flight from Dallas, which used the carrier's three-class 787-9.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) followed on June 26, 2026, with four weekly flights from Taipei. EVA Air said its June departures were nearly fully booked before the launch, while advance bookings for July represented approximately 90% of available capacity. The airline-supplied figures describe its pre-launch sales snapshot, not current route performance.

The airline opened sales on February 11. Airways later covered the inaugural arrival at Washington Dulles.
