DALLAS — This week, two major airlines launched special-edition aircraft liveries to commemorate collaborations with local sports clubs.
Alaska Airlines (AS) debuted a Seattle Mariners-themed Boeing 737-9 yesterday, just in time for Mariners Fan Appreciation Day on September 27.
The design includes the team's emblem and mascot, Mariner Moose, and the memorable line "Fly, Fly Away," which pays tribute to veteran Mariners commentator Dave Niehaus. This is the carrier's second Mariners-themed airliner, and the new design will operate until 2026.
The Seattle-based airline has also expanded its association with fan promotions like "Fly, Fly Away Fridays" and community efforts like donating miles for every home run through its "Home Runs for UNCF" campaign.
Meanwhile, Air Transat (TS) thi sweek commemorated its partnership with CF Montréal by painting one of its Airbus A321LR planes with the soccer club's logo. This new livery not only displays the team's colors but also promotes Montreal as an international destination, benefiting both the city and the sport.
The relationship, which began in 2024, shows common principles of diversity and harmony, with Air Transat Vice President Xavier Szwengler underlining the need to enhance Montreal's international profile through this project.
Both airlines are increasing their ties to the sports community by providing visually appealing tributes to the teams that home customers support. Whether it's baseball or soccer, these planes should turn heads at airports throughout AS and TS' networks.
