MONTRÉAL — Air Canada (AC) announced new flights to Tenerife in the Canary Islands, along with several new routes to the Caribbean and Mexico for the upcoming winter season.
The airline will launch nonstop service from Toronto (YYZ) and Montréal (YUL) to Tenerife South Airport (TFS), the primary airport for international tourism, located in Granadilla de Abona. Flights will begin in late October and run through late April.
Air Canada added several new destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico, including Roatán, Santo Domingo, Mérida, and Mazatlán. The airline will connect its Toronto hub with Mérida starting in late November, while the remaining routes will begin service in December from Montréal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
“We are further cementing Air Canada’s global network as one of the most far-reaching from the North American continent. The addition of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, reflects our continued ambition to offer our customers and Aeroplan members an exceptional, diversified array of unique Air Canada destinations,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo at Air Canada.
Air Canada to operate the A321XLR on the service
The airline will utilize its Airbus A321XLR on its Tenerife route. These new aircraft feature lie-flat seats up front and will carry a total of 182 passengers. The airline’s first A321XLR took off in February 2026, and it will continue to use these aircraft on long and thin routes. Its increasing network to the Caribbean and Mexico will feature the Airbus A220.
“Enabled by the next-generation capabilities of our incoming A321XLR aircraft, travelers on the only non-stop service from North America now have convenient options to reach the island renowned for its stunning volcanic scenery, a rich array of bucket-list activities, and year-round warm weather,” Galardo stated.
