HAMILTON — Bermudian flag carrier BermudAir (2T) has announced a new subsidiary brand, AnguillAir, which will launch flights this December.
The new brand, as the name suggests, will operate flights from the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla, located a few clicks north of the island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten.
AnguillAir’s initial route network will include Boston (BOS) and Baltimore (BWI), served from the island’s only international airport, Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA), beginning December 19 through the winter season, marking the first service for the BermudAir group in the Caribbean.
“This is more than a new route — it’s a reflection of what BermudAir was built to do: strengthen island connections, deliver extraordinary service, and create lasting economic value for Bermuda and beyond,” said founder and CEO Adam Scott. “We’re proud that, because of the support of Bermudians and the growth in tourism demand, we are now able to extend our reach and share our island hospitality with Anguilla.”
Jose Vanterpool, Minister of Infrastructure of Anguilla, added, “To support long-term sustainable growth, we are pursuing a phased, demand-driven expansion plan (of The Valley International Airport), which includes extending the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and increased passenger and cargo volumes.”
AXA already hosts a plethora of different regional airlines offering both scheduled and charter services, including Trans Anguilla Airways, Tradewind Aviation (TJ), and Cape Air (9K). Currently, its only direct route outside of the Caribbean is to Miami (MIA) with American Eagle’s Envoy Air (MQ), operating twice daily during the summer with an Embraer E175.
Along with the new name, a new brand identity will also be introduced, including a comprehensive redesign for AnguillAir-branded flights.
”With its own identity and design, AnguillAir represents the first step in a broader strategy to innovate and grow in what will become the beginning of the new chapter in BermudAir’s long-term growth trajectory.” Said the airline in a statement.
Also, with the launch announcement, BermudAir made some network changes. The carrier will be suspending its Providence (PVD) flight, which it launched earlier in May, at a twice-weekly frequency. In addition, its once-weekly service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) will not be returning next summer season, making it a winter-only route.
BermudAir has not yet stated specifics on AuguillAir operations, such as aircraft or weekly flight frequencies; however, the nature of the routes and branding might suggest basing a plane on the island.
The all-E-Jet operator has had a growing footprint in Bermuda since its launch in September 2023. The carrier now operates a quartet of secondhand Embraer jets, split evenly between a pair of E175s and E190s, to 13 destinations in the United States and Canada.
Just this week, they welcomed their second E190, named XBTO after the XBTO Group, a digital asset and financial firm that had supported BermudAir since its launch.
