DUBAI — Emirates (EK) has completed the installation of next-generation Starlink Wi-Fi onboard its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft.
The first Starlink-equipped A380 underwent installation and certification in Newquay, UK. It returned to Dubai earlier this week, with more double-deckers to be equipped with a high-speed internet connection in 2026.
Faster connectivity onboard Airbus A380
The Airbus A380 has long been celebrated as one of aviation’s most distinctive aircraft. Emirates was among the first to offer internet on board a “Superjumbo” with a total aircraft bandwidth of over 2 Gbps, providing individual passenger speeds often ranging from 100–150+ Mbps.
Starlink will improve onboard connectivity a thousand-fold, offering a complementary ‘better than at home’ connection across all cabin classes with easy sign-up and access, all while cruising at 40,000 feet.

New high-speed internet will enable passengers to stream, game, browse, and work on personal devices as well as enjoy live TV streaming, initially on personal devices, and later integrated into Emirates ice entertainment screens.
Further elevating the onboard experience.
Emirates’ Onboard Lounge, along with the First Class Shower Spa, has brought long-haul travel to new heights and has always been highly valued by the airline’s customers worldwide.
Starlink aims to elevate the A380 onboard experience further by offering seamless connectivity throughout the journey.
New technical milestone for Superjumbo
Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft, offers unique engineering solutions and opportunities, with Emirates being the industry's first to equip double-deckers with Starlink Wi-Fi.
The Starlink configuration is designed to meet the demands of the A380's unique cabin layout and high passenger capacity and is capable of delivering over 2 Gbps of total aircraft bandwidth.
Compared to EK’s Boeing 777 fleet, the Airbus A380 offers additional wireless access points and a third antenna to meet higher passenger capacity demands, along with optimized inter‑deck integration that supports high-speed connectivity for customers, depending on usage and devices’ capabilities.

Emirates to accelerate Starlink deployment on its fleet
Emirates will soon carry out Starlink installations at its own facilities at Dubai Airport (DXB) to accelerate deployment across its fleet.
Dubai-based airline is committed to delivering the best possible connectivity to its customers, with 25 Boeing 777-300ERs already equipped with high-speed internet, and the first Starlink-equipped Airbus A380-800 has now joined the service.
By now, over 650,000 customers have experienced the benefits of Starlink internet connectivity on Emirates flights.
Investing in a better customer experience
The introduction of the first Starlink-equipped A380 builds on EK’s investments to redefine the customer journey, including one of the most ambitious retrofit programs in aviation history.
By today, 93 of Emirates' aircraft have been fully refurbished, featuring widely acclaimed Premium Economy cabins, enhanced Business Class, refreshed First Class suites, an upgraded interior throughout the cabin, and expanded and upgraded inflight systems offering over 6,500 channels of entertainment.
In addition to hardware upgrades, Emirates is continuously investing in its training programs and facilities, which contribute to the customer experience daily.
Last year, EK opened the US$8 million Center of Hospitality Excellence to train 25,000 cabin crew in the art of onboard hospitality, including both the tangible and intangible elements of an outstanding travel experience.
