EVA Air’s New IFE: What Passengers Can Expect On Board

TAIPEI — Long flights can drag, and EVA Air (BR) seems to know that. The airline will offer a new range of in-flight entertainment (IFE) options across its fleet—nothing too flashy, but enough to keep passengers occupied during the journey.

Based in Taiwan, EVA Air (BR) operates international flights across Asia, Europe, North America, and beyond. It’s a Star Alliance member, often recognised for reliable service and neat cabin conditions.

The airline doesn’t try to wow passengers with luxury but focuses more on keeping things simple and consistent, including its entertainment system.

Free Wi-Fi Starts Rolling Out in July

Starting July 1, 2025, BR will begin offering free Wi-Fi to all passengers, including those in Economy, as part of a limited-time summer promotion. According to airline officials, the service will be available on aircraft equipped with in-flight internet: Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787, and Airbus A330-300.

From July 1 to September 30, passengers will get unlimited web browsing during the flight, kicking in once the plane hits 10,000 feet altitude. After this promo window, complimentary Wi-Fi will continue – but only for business class and EVA’s Infinity MileageLands programme members.

What the Wi-Fi Includes (and What It Doesn’t)

The free Wi-Fi covers web browsing and text messaging through apps like LINE and WhatsApp, though media sharing and calls aren't supported. The airline makes it clear that streaming, video calls, or VPN use aren’t part of the plan.

To access the full benefit, Infinity MileageLands members must enter their membership number while booking. New members can even score 1,000 bonus miles just for signing up, unlocking long-term free Wi-Fi benefits.

Screen Entertainment: Movies, Shows, Music, Games

Passengers flying BR get access to seatback screens that offer a mix of Hollywood movies, Asian films, popular TV shows, and games for kids and adults. For flights on the Airbus A321-200, BR has rolled out a different setup. Instead of seatback screens, passengers can stream content using their phones or tablets. Connect to the aircraft’s onboard wireless network and use personal earphones to enjoy a solid selection of movies, shows, and music.

Music playlists are also available onboard. The system’s layout is easy to use, and content is available in multiple languages, such as English, Mandarin, and Japanese, depending on the flight.

It should be enough for passengers to pass a few hours without getting bored.

EVA eLibrary – Digital Reading Onboard

EVA also has an eLibrary, where passengers can check out digital newspapers and magazines. The library is accessible through personal devices during the flight and includes a range of travel, business, and lifestyle reads.

This digital setup also cuts down on paper use, which is useful if someone forgets to bring a book or just wants to scroll through something light mid-flight.

Charging Devices – USB Ports and Power Outlets

Most EVA Air aircraft are fitted with USB ports and, in some cases, full power outlets. This is enough to keep devices charged for the trip, especially on longer flights.

However, availability can depend on what aircraft and cabin class someone is flying—not every seat might have both.

Final Note

EVA Air’s IFE isn’t trying to be over-the-top, but it’s practical. There’s a bit of everything: screen-based content, e-reading, internet access (on some flights), and charging options. It’s a steady setup that quietly does what it needs to, keeping passengers entertained and connected without fuss.
