TAIPEI — EVA Air (BR) plans to expand its U.S. footprint again in mid-2026, with a new nonstop route between Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) and Washington Dulles (IAD). The service is expected to begin in July 2026 with four weekly frequencies, operated by a three-cabin Boeing 787-9.
EVA’s 787-9 in this configuration seats 278 passengers—26 in business class, 28 in premium economy, and 224 in economy—positioning the route to compete for both premium government-and-corporate traffic in the Washington region and connecting flows via Taipei.
Why IAD—and why now?
Washington Dulles is a major connecting hub for United Airlines (UA), a fellow Star Alliance member, giving EVA additional feed beyond the local market and helping support long-haul performance with onward U.S. connections. The route would also become EVA’s 10th North American destination, joining existing service to gateways including Chicago (ORD), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR).
While final timings and the exact start date are still being finalized—and the flight was not initially on sale at the time the plan surfaced—EVA’s own booking channels are already surfacing TPE–IAD itineraries, suggesting commercial rollout is moving forward.
