NEW YORK — As of 8:26 a.m. ET Monday, February 23, FlightAware reported 5,382 cancellations and 845 delays within, into, or out of the U.S., as the Nor’easter continued to hammer the Northeast corridor.
According to data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, 25,236 U.S. departures were scheduled for Monday, with 4,897 cancellations (19.40%) as of 9:20 a.m. ET. Cirium also tracked 2,279 inbound U.S. flights with 545 cancellations (23.91%) at the same time.
The Northeast airports remain the epicenter. Cirium’s 9:20 a.m. snapshot showed near-total shutdown conditions at Boston (BOS) with 503 cancellations out of 511 scheduled departures (98.43%), followed by New York JFK (JFK) at 96.92% and LaGuardia (LGA) at 95.57%. Newark (EWR) was also heavily impacted at 86.85%, alongside Philadelphia (PHL) at 86.68%.
For context, Cirium’s Sunday evening outlook projected 3,855 cancellations (15.28%) out of 25,236 scheduled U.S. departures for Monday, meaning the disruption picture worsened materially overnight.
Looking ahead, cancellations were already building for Tuesday, February 24 in Cirium’s Sunday evening data (25,230 scheduled U.S. departures; 1,043 cancellations, or 4.13%), with early pullbacks concentrated again in the Northeast.
