Porter Airlines to Launch Austin, Chicago Flights

TORONTO — Porter Airlines (PD) will add Austin (AUS) and Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) to its North American network; two new cross-border services for passengers traveling between Canada and the USA.

“Porter continues to offer more destinations and flights that complement existing schedules and connect travelers across North America through our hubs,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.

New Routes in Detail

Porter is expanding its U.S. network with year-round flights between Toronto's Pearson International (YYZ) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) in Texas. The service will commence on May 21. Flights will be operated with Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

Then, on September 1, the regional airline based at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) will alter its Chicago service. Going forward, PD's flights to Chicago will land at O'Hare (ORD) rather than Midway (MDW). Porter has served Chicago from its YTZ base since 2008.

This adjustment provides travelers with access to the city’s primary airport (ORD). In addition, PD will increase its frequencies on the route to three services per day. Flights will be operated with Dash 8 -400 aircraft.

Passengers on this service will benefit from the new U.S. CBP Pre-clearance facility opening at YTZ in the coming weeks.

Future connecting itineraries will also be enabled via O’Hare with partner airlines. PD continues to build frequency and connectivity from Toronto’s downtown airport, providing convenient options for travelers.

Meanwhile, in Canada, a new seasonal service between Ottawa (YOW) and Deer Lake (YDF) begins June 10. This route complements existing flights from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and Halifax (YHZ).
