SYDNEY — Qantas Freight (QF) has launched its first dedicated freighter service to Singapore (SIN), expanding its Southeast Asia network and providing shippers with an alternative to bellyhold cargo on passenger flights.
Australia’s International Air Services Commission (IASC) had already flagged the new all-cargo operation in a March case note, stating QF planned to commence all-cargo services between Sydney (SYD) and Shanghai (PVG) through to SIN using an Airbus A330F operated under a wet lease arrangement with QF's wholly owned subsidiary Express Freighters Australia (QE).
The IASC later issued Determination [2026] IASC 103 allocating QF unlimited freight capacity on the Singapore route for 99 years (from March 27, 2026), subject to conditions.
Changi’s air hub team welcomed QF’s inaugural freighter flight on April 3, 2026, marking the start of scheduled, dedicated freighter operations at SIN. The twice-weekly SYD–PVG–SIN–SYD rotation will be operated by QF's A330 freighter.
Although QF has not released specific payload figures for this rotation, the group has stated that its converted A330-200 freighters can carry up to 50 tonnes. This widebody platform supports the airlines international cargo growth strategy.
