DALLAS — United Airlines (UA) has confirmed that it will resume its daily service from New York to Tel Aviv, following the airline's temporary suspension of all flight operations to Israel last month due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East region.
United is the first primary U.S. carrier to announce the resumption of flights. In contrast, carriers like Delta Air Lines (DL) continue to assess the situation before deciding on the continuation of their services to the country.
The airline stated that flights from New York’s JFK and Newark (EWR) airports to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) will recommence on July 21, with a second daily flight resuming the following day.
“This resumption is in line with United’s longstanding commitment to serving Tel Aviv,” United said in a statement, adding, “Throughout 2025, United has flown to Tel Aviv more than any other U.S. airline.”
UA last flew to Tel Aviv on June 11th, a day before Israel carried out strikes inside Iran, which forced a flight en route to turn back halfway. Ever since then, UA's flight operations to Israel have remained suspended.
Flight Disruptions Amid Regional Instability
Ever since the October 8 attacks in 2023, this region has seen political instability and a wide range of conflicts. Carriers worldwide have been forced to suspend their flight operations in this region.
These conflicts have also resulted in airspace closures several times throughout the past couple of years, forcing carriers to adopt longer routes or sometimes suspend flight operations entirely, causing revenue loss and inconvenience to travelers.
United’s decision to resume flights to Tel Aviv highlights the returning normalization in the region. It also reflects growing confidence in the security situation and a shift toward stability after weeks of uncertainty.
The move may also encourage other international carriers to follow suit, gradually restoring global connectivity to Israel.
