FORLÌ — Aeroitalia (XZ), a prominent Italian carrier operating across domestic and European networks, has unveiled a new livery for its fleet. In this post, we'll take a look at the airline's history beyond this visual rebranding.
At the beginning of its operations, XZ mainly flew charter flights; founded by German Efromovich and Marc Bourgade, XZ's first commercial flights took place onJuly 9, 2022 from Forlì’s Luigi Ridolfi airport (FRL), where its started serving an exclusively domestic network.
In its journey, the carrier has operated (as a base) in Bergamo, Ancona, and Alghero. The current HUB where flights and connections operate is Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), where, thanks to codeshare agreements with SkyTeam, Etihad Airways (EY), and Qatar Airways (QR), travelers can make stopovers with reduced transit times on connections to the final destination.
For a few years now, through regional tenders, XZ has also served a territorial continuity from the airports of Olbia, Cagliari, Catania, Palermo, and Comiso to FCO and Milan Linate Airport (LIN), with dedicated fares for residents in Sicily and Sardinia.
Other Italian bases where XZ operates are Foggia, which took over following the bankruptcy of the Greek company Lumiwings (L9); following this, the company will also open a base at the Salerno Costa D’Amalfi Airport (QSR).
Another novelty is the base at Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA), which is connected daily to FCO, thus "breaking" the years-long monopoly held by ITA Airways (AZ).
Aeroitalia is active in terms of sports partnerships; the largest is the one with S.S. Lazio, where the carrier is the “Official Airline," and the other team is Cagliari Calcio. The airline ranks fourth after Lufthansa Group's AZ and Air Dolomiti (EN), and Neos Air (NO).

Aeroitalia Fleet
The airline's fleet was initially characterized by Boeing 737-800s, but thanks to partnerships with Hello Jets (H3), Air Connect (KS), and Marathon Airlines (O8), the current fleet consists of:
- Boeing B737-800
- Boeing B737-700
- Embraer E175
- Embraer E190
- Embraer E195
- Airbus A320
- ATR 72-600
As with most airlines today, XZ looks towards the future and sustainability; the arrival of the Boeing 737-8 is expected in the autumn, which is the latest version of the 737 family, with reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. They will also adopt the new livery.

The new livery
The new look focuses on a distinctive identity, marking a definitive break from the previous livery and establishing a solid, independent brand. It was presented on the Boeing 737-700, but will later be extended to the -800 series. What are its key points?
- The Dynamic Tricolour: green, white, and red wrap around the tail with fluid lines that convey speed.
- A Touch of Deep Blue: The introduction of dark blue on the engines and the aircraft's belly adds an elegant, institutional tone.
- Bold Branding: The name “Aeroitalia” in a solid font dominates the front section for maximum readability.
On 15/03/2026, the first 737, 9H-SIL, was delivered in the new livery. It arrived in the late afternoon at FCO. It will be immediately operational the following day on the airline's network, offering it greater flexibility.
