Alaska Adds New California-Pacific Northwest Links

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines (AS) is spreading its wings further across the West Coast this winter with seven fresh nonstop routes launching between California and the Pacific Northwest in late 2025 and early 2026. The airline will be aircraft type Embraer 175 (E175), featuring 76 seats and no middle seats, so every guest gets either a window or aisle.

Why It Matters

As the only global airline headquartered on the West Coast, Alaska Airlines continues to reinforce its regional leadership by adding routes that serve both leisure and business travelers. According to Kirsten Armine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning, the carrier now offers the most flights and seats in California, Washington, and Oregon.

New Year‑Round Routes from Burbank (BUR)

Starting October 26, 2025, Alaska will introduce three daily year‑round flights from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) to:

  • Eugene (EUG) (Oregon) – the fifth nonstop route to this city
  • Pasco / Tri‑Cities region (PSC) – the only nonstop link to this market from Los Angeles area airports
  • Redmond (RDM) – reinforcing the carrier’s position as the top airline serving central Oregon

These routes strengthen connectivity from Southern California to vibrant Pacific Northwest communities.

Seasonal Fun: Palm Springs to Santa Rosa & San Diego to Sun Valley

Also on October 26, 2025, Alaska will launch winter‑season service between Palm Springs (PSP) and Santa Rosa (STS), operating five times per week. This pairing of desert and wine country destinations offers a novel getaway, with Alaska now serving eight destinations nonstop from Santa Rosa.

Beginning December 18, 2025, a winter‑only service from San Diego (SAN) to Sun Valley (SKI) takes to the skies three times weekly. This adds a scenic gateway for winter sports lovers, expanding Sun Valley’s ski access.

Year‑Round Additions in January 2026: Boise and Spokane

On January 7, 2026, two more daily year‑round routes will be added:

  • Boise (BOI) to Ontario (ONT) in Southern California
  • Spokane (GEG) to Orange County (SNA)

These services connect key inland cities to Southern California, enhancing options for both business travelers and weekend adventurers.

Strategic Play

This expansion underscores Alaska Airlines’ strength in secondary markets and efficient regional operations. By focusing on underserved city pairs and connecting leisure hubs with business communities, the airline is reinforcing its dominance across California, Oregon, and Washington.

Most of the new routes kick off just before the holiday and winter travel surge, positioning Alaska to meet increased demand in time for the festive season.

Final Thoughts

With this ambitious round of route launches, Alaska Airlines is giving travelers more flexibility and choice across West Coast and Pacific Northwest markets. By linking leisure destinations like Sun Valley and wine country with key business and regional hubs, the airline cements its reputation as the West Coast’s go‑to carrier for both everyday travelers and weekend escape seekers.

Stay tuned as these new city pairs lace up their seatbelts and prepare for takeoff.
