Alaska Airlines Launches New Route to Reykjavík

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines (AS) is expanding its route network with a new nonstop flight to Reykjavík (KEF), starting from May 28, 2026, and operating until September 7, 2026.

Daily summer flights from the airline’s hub in Seattle (SEA) will allow guests to enjoy breathtaking landscapes and beautiful nature, while also enjoying a new elevated onboard experience on the airline’s Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

“The addition of Reykjavík expands Alaska’s global footprint, connecting our guests with even more of the world through the elevated service they know and love. We’re excited to launch our new nonstop route next summer, bringing travelers closer to the natural magic of Iceland and providing a seamless gateway to Europe,” said Kirsten Amrine, Vice president of revenue management and network planning, Alaska Airlines.

Each flight to KEF includes complimentary Wi-Fi exclusive for this route, as well as premium pillows and blankets.

Passengers travelling in First Class or as Atmos Rewards Gold, Platinum or Titanium elites will have access to Icelandair’s Saga Lounge at KEF.

Partnership with Icelandair, Increased Connectivity to Europe

The opening of the SEA-KEF route marks a milestone as Alaska Airlines and Icelandair celebrate 10 years of partnership.

The most recent enhanced bilateral codeshare agreement between the two carriers aims to boost further the connectivity of passengers between North America and Europe. AS’ non-stop flight to the Icelandic capital will be complemented by over 35 Icelandair daily flights to various destinations across Europe

“The expansion of our longstanding partnership with Alaska Airlines reinforces our commitment to providing seamless travel options for our customers. By combining Icelandair’s comprehensive network of around 60 destinations across the North Atlantic with Alaska’s strong presence along the U.S. West Coast, we are creating even more opportunities for convenient and flexible connections between North America and Europe for our customers. This collaboration reflects our shared dedication to service excellence and delivering a superior travel experience,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, President and Chief Executive Officer, Icelandair.

Elevated Premium Experience On Board 737

Alaska Airlines is continuing to invest in enhancing the customer experience on its Boeing 737 fleet, underscoring the airline’s growth as a premium global carrier.

All 737 aircraft in Alaska Airlines' fleet will feature updated bulkheads, cabin dividers, new leather seats, carpets, device holders, and reserved overhead bin space for guests in First and Premium Class cabins. Passengers can also enjoy more conveniently positioned power outlets and new USB-C charging ports.

On Boeing 737-9 and 737-900ER aircraft, Premium Class will expand to 30 seats, 737-800 and 737-8’s First Class will grow from 12 to 16 seats.

Modern Serveware Collection in First Class

Starting from September 24, Alaska Airlines is debuting a modern serveware collection inspired by the Pacific Northwest, delivering a new level of onboard experience on all the airline’s flights.

Designed in partnership with Buzz, the collection features a refined entrée plate, a stoneware bowl, and a contemporary mug, along with a new custom flatware set featuring a brass-tone knife, fork, and spoon with clean lines. A brass-accent bowl for small bites and a sleek tray complement versatile side dishes.

Expanded First Class Menu

Alaska Airlines continues to offer more meal options than any other U.S. carrier to its passengers, with up to five meal choices, including vegan and gluten-free options.

Starting September 24, the menu will be further elevated with new concepts such as Tahini Roasted Carrots with Green Goddess Yogurt Sauce and Citrus & Fennel with Chili Glaze, JUST Egg Scramble, Spanish Carnitas Egg Scramble, and Brown Butter Pancakes for breakfast, or Moroccan Beef and Chili Shrimp with Black Rice for lunch and dinner.

Upgraded Premium Class

In addition to existing Premium Class benefits - increased legroom, complimentary drinks, and priority boarding - passengers will have a rich choice from a specially curated snack basket on a flight over 670 miles, starting December this year.

The new premium snack basket features high-quality snacks from the airline’s partners, including Solely, Jackson’s Kettle Cooked Chips, Thinsters chocolate chip cookies, Wonderful Pistachios, and Hippeas Groovy White Cheddar Puffs.

Stellar Snacks, including pretzels and Biscoff cookies, will continue to be served as part of the complimentary snack and beverage service in the Main Cabin.

Upgraded Loyalty Program Atmos Rewards

Combining the best of Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles, Alaska’s new loyalty program—Atmos Rewards—provides members with more rewards, choice, and global accessibility than ever before.

Starting next year, passengers can enjoy complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi onboard delivered in cooperation with T-Mobile and Starlink. By 2027, the entire fleet will be equipped with ultra-fast internet.

Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite cardholders receive eight complimentary Alaska Lounge passes annually, including free entry for up to two accompanying children. Each pass is valid for the entire day, allowing you to enjoy multiple Alaska lounges with a single pass. Existing Alaska Lounge members can share the passes with family and friends.

In 2026, lounge guests can enjoy a new premium bar experience, including cocktails and exclusive curation. Each lounge visit includes a complimentary drink - Summit Sunset cocktail or any selection from the new mixologist-curated bar menu.

In 2027, Alaska Airlines will open a new lounge at Seattle Airport (SEA) - bigger, bolder, and built to match the airline’s premium service development.

Holders of co-branded premium credit cards with Bank of America can earn 1 status point for every $2 spent, helping them reach rewards faster.
