AMSTERDAM — Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) served 13.2 million passengers during peak summer months - July and August - reporting a 3.6% year-on-year rise. Over half of the served passengers, 8.6 million, flew directly to or from AMS.
Among the most popular served countries were Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Greece, and the United States.
The number of aircraft movements between July and August rose by 1.6% compared to 2024, reaching a total of 86,936.
Schiphol Remains an Essential Gateway for the Netherlands
“Half of the departing travellers lives in the Netherlands. That underlines our role as a national airport, which we fulfil thanks to the efforts of thousands of colleagues at Schiphol,” said Chief Operating Officer (COO), Patricia Vitalis.
“Because of them, the summer went smoothly, and we received more than 200,000 travellers each day, totalling around 13.2 million. That’s an achievement we can be proud of as the Netherlands,” added Patricia Vitalis
Smooth, Reliable Travel
As the number of passengers is rising, service quality and efficiency is maintained in Schiphol. 95% of departing passengers went through security checks within 10 minutes.
The baggage handling process proved to be smooth and efficient, with 4.5 million items belonging to departing travelers processed in AMS between July and August, representing a 7% increase compared to the summer of 2024.
