China-Southern Restarts Guangzhou-Perth Service

DALLAS — China Southern Airlines (CZ) has resumed its seasonal service between Guangzhou (CAN) and Perth (PER).

The seasonal service will continue through to March next year, opening up a total of 34 650 additional seats during the season. Flights are operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Initially, flights will operate three times a week, increasing to four per week from December 14.

Boost for Tourism

The seasonal service is significant for Western Australia since China is a key tourism source market for the state. The airline introduced PER flights in 2011. This service facilitates valued tourism flows from China to PER.

“China currently represents Western Australia’s fourth largest international market by visitor number with 65,000 visitors in FY2025, injecting $457 million into the economy – so a direct connection to China is an important objective for Western Australia tourism industry,” Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s chief commercial and aviation officer said.

“Chinese visitors deliver the highest tourism spend in Western Australia (WA), with travellers typically staying seven nights and exploring multiple regions across the state, according to Tourism WA. Holsgrove said.

According to australianaviation.com, this is one of several new services into PER. The return of CZ's seasonal service comes as other airlines also increase services between PER and Asia. Last week, Jetstar (JQ) launched services between PER and Manila (MNL).
