DALLAS — German leisure carrier, Condor (DE), known for its distinctive striped livery, has announced an order for four Airbus A330-900 aircraft. In December 2022, the airline received its first A330-900 aircraft and aims to build a fleet of up to 25 of the type by 2031. Additionally, DE has agreed on an option for four further A330neo aircraft.
Condor’s current A330-900 fleet consists of 18 aircraft, with that number expected to increase to 21 by the end of 2027. On board, passengers will find a three-class layout, with 30 seats in Business Class, 64 seats in Premium Economy, and 216 seats in Economy. Economy class seats are arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration, and 2-3-2 towards the rear galley.
Comments from Condor CEO
As Condor converted its long-haul fleet to one purely made up of the A330-900 upon the retirement of their final Boeing 767-300 in March 2024, the airline said it would be offering “customers a completely standardized product to all long-haul destinations for the first time,” according to its CEO, Peter Gerber.
One of the reasons that DE has chosen to expand its A330neo fleet is due to the “positive customer feedback and the operational stability” of the aircraft type.
In addition, by expanding their fleet, Condor can “open up new opportunities in the international business and continue the successful strategy of growth seen in recent years”, as shown by the airline’s increased operational profit from €52 million to €113 million from October to December last year.
