DÜSSELDORF — Eurowings (EW) has officially opened bookings for its newly developed Premium BIZ seat, a product designed to bridge the gap between traditional European business class and passenger expectations on longer, medium-haul routes.
The new seat will be available from 22 November 2025, debuting on the Berlin (BER) – Dubai (DXB) service operated by the airline’s Airbus A320neo fleet.
Product Details
The Premium BIZ cabin will feature a 2-2 configuration with just eight seats in the front section of the aircraft. This marks a significant departure from the conventional European business-class model, which typically offers economy seating with a blocked middle seat.
The new seating includes:
- Nearly one meter of legroom
- Adjustable leg rests and ergonomic design
- USB charging ports and a cocktail table
- Enhanced service with an aperitif and a hot meal
- Amenity kit with pillow and blanket
This approach positions Eurowings as the first German airline to introduce a genuine premium business product on a narrow-body aircraft.
Pricing Structure
The Premium BIZ seat is available for €399.99 (approximately US$432) per sector, in addition to the standard BIZclass fare. Pricing may vary depending on route and demand, with some early listings showing slightly higher figures.
This structure positions the seat as a paid upgrade rather than a distinct booking class, allowing for flexibility in the rollout of the product.

Deployment Strategy
Bookings are currently available exclusively through EW’s website. The first scheduled operation will be on the BER–DXB route with an A320neo. The airline has framed this as part of a trial period during the 2025/26 winter schedule, with passenger feedback expected to influence future deployment.
The development also comes as EW prepares for a broader fleet renewal, with 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft scheduled to join from 2027 to 2030. Insights gained from the Premium BIZ program may shape the configuration of these aircraft as the airline refines its medium-haul offering.
Market Positioning
Eurowings’ step is part of a broader industry trend to make narrow-body flights more comfortable, especially on routes longer than five hours. For the Lufthansa Group (LH), this is a trial run that could be rolled out to other airlines within the group if demand and operations prove successful.
While it is not a lie-flat product, the Premium BIZ seat still gives EW a clear edge in the medium-haul market, especially on routes like Berlin (BER) to Dubai (DXB), where comfort matters most to travelers.
Bottom Line
The Premium BIZ launch is a crucial move for EW as it seeks to redefine what business class on narrow-body aircraft can offer in Europe and on longer routes.
Its future will depend on how passengers respond, how well the pricing is accepted, and how smoothly it operates. Still, it shows the airline’s explicit aim to strengthen its position in the medium-haul market.
