VANCOUVER — The flag carrier of Fiji and Canada’s second-largest airline have announced a new codeshare agreement, expanding connectivity between the Pacific island nation and North America.
The deal will see Fiji Airways’ code (FJ) on WestJet’s (WS) domestic network, including Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Winnipeg (YWG), Toronto (YYZ) and Halifax (YHZ); while the WS code will be put on FJ’s thrice weekly nonstop service from Nadi (NAN) to Vancouver (YVR), a route that will see an up-gauge from the current Airbus A330-200 to the A350-900 later this year.
“Canada represents a growing and high-value market for Fiji and the wider Pacific. This partnership with WestJet makes it easier than ever for Canadian travelers to experience the warmth, culture, and natural beauty of Fiji, while also supporting increased visitor flows into our region,” said Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, Paul Scurrah.
WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said, “By deepening ties between WestJet’s North American network and Fiji Airways’ world-class service to the South Pacific, we are making it easier for our shared guests to reach the destinations that matter most to them. Whether they want to immerse themselves in a new culture, connect with loved ones, or explore a path less traveled, together we are creating smoother journeys and more travel memories.”
Passengers will be able to book applicable flights on either airline’s website and benefit from single check-in itineraries, through-checked luggage, and rewards points redemption. Codeshare flights are now available for booking through both carriers.
A year of partnership
Since the beginning of 2025, WestJet has been significantly expanding its partnerships with airlines worldwide.
They have expanded existing codeshare agreements with Japan Airlines (JL), Air France-KLM (AF-KL), Aeromexico (AM), Virgin Atlantic (VS), launched a new codeshare with Scandinavian (SK), and launched new interline relationships with Saudia (SV), Kenya Airways (KQ), and Copa Airlines (CM); all within the past 17 months.
Over in the South Pacific, Fiji Airways expanded its codeshare with British Airways (BA) and Qantas (QF) through its Vancouver service: FJ880/881. The flight now has three third-party airline codes attached.
