HELSINKI — Finnair (AY) will restart flights to Toronto, Canada, on May 4, 2026, marking its return to the Canadian market after a decade.
The airline will operate three weekly flights, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, throughout the summer season, offering passengers a direct connection between Helsinki and Toronto.
The last time Finnair served Toronto was in the summer of 2015. Since then, the route remained suspended as the airline focused on other markets and adjusted to industry-wide disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, with travel demand steadily rebounding and transatlantic routes gaining popularity, Finnair sees an opportunity to reconnect with Canada.
"We are excited to grow our North American network and bring Canada back as a destination. Toronto is a popular travel destination and offers, especially our European customers, great connections also to other parts of Canada,” says Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer.

In addition to the newly resumed Toronto route, FY will also operate flights next summer to several major cities across North America. These include New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle.
With this expanded transatlantic schedule, Finnair is aiming to strengthen its footprint in the North American market and offer more travel options for passengers connecting through its Helsinki hub.
The airline’s North American network will cater to both leisure and business travelers, providing direct links between Finland and key U.S. and Canadian destinations.
