SÃO PAULO — GOL Linhas Aéreas (G3) will launch nonstop service between Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and Orlando (MCO), expanding its U.S. presence as it prepares to introduce widebody aircraft to mainline operations.
GOL stated the Rio–Orlando service will operate four times per week with an Airbus A330 configured for nearly 300 passengers. The airline has not announced a start date but indicated tickets will be available soon.
GOL already serves Orlando (MCO) from Fortaleza (FOR) and Brasília (BSB) with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, but has not previously offered service between Orlando and Rio (GIG).
A330s unlock longer-haul growth from Rio
The Florida expansion is part of GOL’s broader long-haul strategy from RIOgaleão (GIG). Reuters reports the carrier plans to establish Rio as its hub for up to five incoming Airbus A330-900 aircraft as it transitions from an all-737 fleet and targets longer routes to North America and Europe.
GOL has announced Rio (GIG)–New York (JFK) service beginning July 8, 2026, with three weekly flights. According to Aviation Week, the airline also plans intercontinental service to Lisbon (LIS) and Paris (CDG), with initial long-haul operations supported by ACMI capacity from its sister carrier, Wamos Air (EB), until GOL introduces its own A330neos later in 2026.
The new Rio–Orlando route strengthens GOL’s U.S. network, which includes Miami (MIA) and Orlando, and further establishes GIG as the focal point of its international expansion.
