MUSCAT — Today, Oman Air (WY) published its 2025 commercial results. The airline carried almost 6 million passengers in 2025, an increase of 8% from 2024.
Europe played a key role in driving growth; WY registered 29% growth on flights from its Muscat (MCT) hub to the Old Continent. 2025 marked the introduction of two new destinations, Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) and Copenhagen (CPH), to WY’s network. The airline also resumed its double-daily flight to London Heathrow (LHR), a key non-stop market. Overall, WY quantified the added capacity to the European market at around 13% year-on-year.
Point-to-point traffic saw a remarkable increase in 2025, with 64% flying to Oman, marking an unprecedented 34% year-on-year increase and highlighting Oman's relaunch as a destination. One of the key deliverables of WY’s transformation is to expand Oman’s outreach and bring more tourists to the region, while returning to profitability by the end of 2026.
Oman Air officially joined the oneworld alliance in 2025, expanding its global presence to almost 900 airports thanks to the alliance’s partners. 2025 saw WY take delivery of its latest Boeing 787-9, as well as several Boeing 737-8s, to rebuild its fleet after phasing out its Airbus A330 subfleet. The airline closed the year strong with several route announcements, including Singapore; the new service will be operated by the Boeing 737-8, starting July 2.
The airlines is working on its future fleet; given long delivery timescales, the airline’s management is considering “higher capacity narrowbodies” to efficiently serve key markets like Europe and Southeast Asia. A decision is expected in the upcoming months regarding WY’s future fleet.
Comments from Oman Air CEO
Commenting on the results, Con Korfiatis, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “2025 was a
defining year for Oman Air. The progress we’ve made reflects the discipline and focus of our transformation strategy, and Europe has been a key part of that journey. By strengthening our network, enhancing partnerships and offering travellers more direct access to Oman, we’re seeing stronger demand, higher-quality revenue and a growing appreciation of what Oman Air represents. These results position us well for the next phase of sustainable growth, both in Europe and across our wider network.”
