CASABLANCA —Royal Air Maroc (AT) will launch a new long-haul route from Casablanca to Los Angeles, starting June 7, 2026, operated three times weekly on the Boeing 787. It will become the first carrier to offer a nonstop route between Africa and the West Coast of the United States, capturing rising transcontinental demand ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and strengthening CMN's strategic hub position across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
A New Transatlantic Corridor
The 11-hour link will carry a mix of VFR, tourism, and business traffic, including passengers heading to the U.S. for the World Cup. AT's CEO Hamid Addou said the launch reflects Morocco's broader plan to deepen global engagement while boosting the country's visibility in one of the world's largest outbound travel markets.
The new route also complements the carrier's recent expansion across North America, where the airline currently flies to JFK, IAD, MIA, YUL, and YYZ. Additional frequencies on CMN's current long-haul routes to São Paulo and Dubai strengthen its role as a regional gateway.
Fleet, Network Expansion
AT will operate the LAX service on its 787 Dreamliner, featuring upgraded cabins, personal IFE systems, and amenities suited to long-haul flights. The route announcement aligns with the carrier's 2023–2037 program, targeting a fleet increase from 60 to 200 aircraft and significant network growth in time for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
