SEATTLE — Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Alaska Airlines (AS) have completed the SEA Gateway Project, a significant change to the north terminal entrance.
The project, which cost USD$546 million, is part of the Upgrade SEA initiative and represents one of several projects completed before a global sports event this summer.
Enhanced Check-in, Security
The SEA Gateway Project brings the airline’s first large-scale automated bag drop experience, a new security checkpoint, and a check-in area on the Bridge Level. The project seeks to improve passenger flow by providing more space, improved digital signage, and reconfigured security screening areas.
Luggage, Accessibility, Art
Other features of the project include new baggage handling equipment, enhanced restrooms, accessible entry and exit points, and several works of public art throughout the terminal. The project’s sustainability elements are on track to meet LEED Silver certification.
Several Upgrade SEA projects, including concourse and roadway upgrades, are scheduled for completion later this year.
