DALLAS — SWISS International Air Lines (LX) has taken delivery of a second Airbus A350-900, featuring the airline’s classic red-and-white SWISS livery, arrived in Zurich (ZRH).
The A350-900 is only scheduled to enter commercial service on February 23. Its first flight will be from ZRH to Montreal (YUL) in Canada.
Long-Haul Fleet Renewal
The aircraft, named Delémont, is the second new Airbus A350-900 in the LX fleet. Including this aircraft, SWISS will have two Airbus A350s in active service.
The airline is moving forward with the renewal of its long-haul fleet. In fact, LX has another eight A350s on order. They will join the LX fleet in the future. The new aircraft enable SWISS to offer passengers its signature onboard experience.
“With each new delivery, more of our customers can enjoy the new SWISS Senses travel experience. Eight more A350s will join our fleet in the years ahead, supporting the continued modernisation of our long-haul operations,” said SWISS Chief Operating Officer Oliver Buchhofer.
Airbus A350 Routes
Commencing this summer, LX intends to operate the A350 on key long-haul routes from its ZRH base.
These include Boston (BOS) and Seoul (ICN). More destinations will be added as additional aircraft arrive later this year.
