TransNusa Launches New Jakarta-Subang Route

DALLAS – On August 1, 2024, Indonesian carrier TransNusa (8B) successfully launched its first flight from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) to Subang’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB). This new route makes 8B the sole operator flying between the Indonesian capital and a Malaysian city.

TransNusa operates two types of aircraft; the Airbus A320 and the Chinese-made COMAC ARJ21-700. The carrier was the first overseas customer of the COMAC aircraft, however, on this new route, the 174-seater A320 will be dispatched. 

The first flight, operated by the A320, took off from CGK’s terminal 3 as 8B699 at 11:00 and touched down at SZB at 14:04, a mere four minutes slow. 

Future 8B699 flights are scheduled to depart CGK at 16:10, landing at Subang at 19:00.

The return flight, operating as 8B698, departed SZB at 16:30 on August 1 and arrived in Soekarno-Hatta at 17:36, six minutes behind schedule. Future 8B698 flights will depart from SZB at 19:30 and land at 20:30. There will be a daily return flight.

The TransNusa Group CEO, Datuk Bernard Francis, emphasized Subang’s convenient proximity to Malaysia’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur, which is popular with tourists.

“This route will allow passengers from Subang Airport to reach Kuala Lumpur in a mere 19 to 20 minutes by car with only 23 km between the two locations,” said Francis.

According to travelandtourworld.com, 8B is one of the six airlines that now serve Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport after gaining approval from Malaysia’s Aviation Commission. The new route will complement 8B’s network of three daily flights from CGK to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and four weekly flights to Johor Bahru (JHB).
