DALLAS — United Airlines (UA) and Spotify have announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing the in-flight entertainment experience. Starting later this year, passengers on select United flights will have access to Spotify’s library of music, podcasts, and audiobooks through the airline’s seatback screens.
“Spotify has a huge audience and people love their content. And now our customers can enjoy it all in a simple and easy way, at 35,000 feet,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of United’s MileagePlus program. “Together, we’re giving millions of customers a new way to explore premium content from the world’s most popular artists, authors, and podcasters.”
This is the first time Spotify is offering audiobooks and video podcasts as part of an airline’s in-flight entertainment system.
Personalized Streaming Coming in 2026
In a further development, United has announced that, starting next year, passengers will be able to log in directly to their own Spotify accounts from the in-flight seat-back screens. This will allow users to access their personalized playlists, saved podcasts, and audiobooks during the flight, picking up where they left off.
Spotify content will be available on over 680 United aircraft and will appear as a new category labeled “Spotify” in the in-flight entertainment system. This new section will replace the existing “Audio” tab on the home screen and will feature separate channels for Podcasts, Video Podcasts, Audiobooks, and Playlists.
In the coming months, most aircraft will also feature a dedicated “Spotify” channel, making it easier for passengers to find and enjoy all available Spotify content in one place.
