TOULOUSE — KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) will take delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 before the end of summer. Ahead of the first aircraft’s delivery, KL hosted a small group of Dutch media at the A350 Final Assembly Line in Toulouse, where its A350-900 is taking shape.
The A350 family will replace KL’s Airbus A330-200, A330-300, and part of the Boeing 777-200ER fleet. Two more units will be delivered in 2026, with the freighter variant expected in 2027 to replace the four-engined Boeing 747-400F.
The aircraft, MSN 809, has already reached station 40B, where its wings and landing gear have been connected to the carbon fibre fuselage. The aircraft’s tail already features the Dutch flag carrier’s logo.
Inside, KL has opted to install the electronically dimmable window across all cabins. The first aircraft will have a total capacity of 331 seats: 34 in Business Class, 26 in Premium Comfort, 33 in Economy Comfort, and 238 in Economy. Each seat will be equipped with USB-C charging, Panasonic Astrova IFE, and Viasat connectivity.
The aircraft’s winglets and engines will be installed at a later stage in a different hangar. After receiving its blue paint coat, MSN 809 will embark on a series of tests and customer acceptance flights before joining KL in the summer.
