Wizz Air Expands Poland Operations, Adds 10 New Routes

DALLAS – Wizz Air (W6) intends to grow its operations in Poland and will base two additional aircraft in the country.

The ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) has announced significant expansion of its operations in Poland, with the addition of a sixth aircraft to its Kraków (KRK) base and a seventh aircraft in Katowice (KTW). W6 will base an Airbus A321neo at each of these stations.

The move comes after the ULCC announced that it would terminate operations at its Abu Dhabi (AUH) hub. That said, W6 is turning its focus to Europe, with Poland receiving additional capacity. The move reinforces W6’s long-term commitment to the Małopolska and Silesia regions, while significantly enhancing travel options for passengers with the launch of ten new direct routes to some of Europe’s most attractive destinations.

Additional Aircraft at Two Bases

The carrier will base its sixth Airbus A321neo at KRK, enabling the launch of new services to Bilbao (BIO), Verona (VRN), Vilnius (VNO), and Tallinn (TLL). Flights to VNO and TLL will begin on October 26, while services to VRN commence on October 28. Scheduled operations to BIO start on December 9.

In addition, W6 will base its seventh Airbus A321neo at KTW, facilitating the introduction of six new services. Destinations include: Porto (OPO) and Faro (FAO), Brindisi (BDS), Lamezia Terme (SUF), Brașov (GHV), and Maastricht (MST). Flights to OPO will commence on October 26, 2025, while the remaining new services will launch in March next year.

“Kraków and Katowice are important bases for our operations in Poland. With the addition of new aircraft, we can now offer travelers from the Małopolska and Silesia regions an even broader selection of exciting destinations — including Porto, Bilbao, Verona, Tallinn, or Brasov — all at affordable prices. We are proud to support the dynamic growth of these regions while making air travel more accessible and environmentally friendly.” Andras Szabo, Wizz Air’s Commercial Officer Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, said.

This expansion into KRK and KTW marks another key milestone in Wizz Air’s long-term growth strategy for Poland. The country’s growing economy is a catalyst for expanded air services. In the first half of 2025, W6 operated over 32,000 flights to and from Poland, representing a 9.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Since launching operations in Poland, ULCC Air has carried over 120 million passengers on its flights.
