ZURICH — Edelweiss (WK) introduced a completely redesigned long-haul cabin for its Airbus A350 fleet, positioning comfort, space, and onboard technology at the center of its next-generation product.

Edelweiss presented the new cabin concept under the motto “More room to feel good,” pairing modern Swiss-inspired design with high-quality materials and a deliberately restrained color palette. The airline said the redesign extends beyond seating, aiming to create a calm, holistic environment that enhances passenger well-being across all travel classes.

The cabin's visual language mirrors the aircraft’s updated exterior, with darker reds and blues drawn from Edelweiss’ refreshed livery and signature wave motif. Clean lines, reduced forms, and subtle patterns reference contemporary Swiss architecture, while shades of blue dominate the interior, reinforcing a sense of harmony and relaxation.

Economy: More Space, Familiar Comfort

In Economy Class, WK increased legroom by around three centimeters compared with the previous cabin and introduced seats with a greater recline angle. Blue woven fabrics, refined stitching, and a simplified color scheme define a cabin designed to feel open and timeless on long-haul sectors.

Premium Economy: Expanded Service, Clear Upgrade

The airline expanded its premium offering with a new Premium Economy cabin featuring 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout. Each seat provides roughly one meter of pitch and a hard-shell design similar to those used elsewhere in the Lufthansa Group. The service includes a pre-departure welcome drink, upgraded dining served on china with tablecloths, included alcoholic beverages, and noise-canceling headphones borrowed from Business Class.

Business and Business Suite: Privacy Takes Center Stage

The new Business Class adopts a 1-2-1 configuration with direct aisle access for every passenger, with nearly half the seats arranged as paired “double” seats for couples. Fully flat beds, dark blue tones, woven upholstery, and wood accents define the space.

At the top end, the Edelweiss Business Suite introduces closable doors measuring around 1.2 meters high, a large open footwell, and 32-inch monitors. Adjustable center dividers allow suites to convert for shared travel, while memory foam pillows, mattress toppers, and expanded storage enhance long-haul comfort.

Technology Across the Cabin

Technology forms a core pillar of the A350 cabin. WK equipped all classes with free high-speed Starlink internet, 4K entertainment screens with Bluetooth audio, and power at every seat. USB-C and USB-A ports deliver up to 60 watts for laptop charging, while wireless charging is available in Premium Economy and above. Human-centric lighting supports circadian rhythms, and the in-flight entertainment system includes more than 400 films and series, a 3D flight map, and external cameras.

“Our aim was to create a space that exudes tranquility and clearly positions itself as a premium product,” said Bernd Bauer, describing the cabin as a natural evolution of Edelweiss’ design language and long-haul leisure focus.

Entry Into Service

The first Airbus A350 with the new cabin enters service in December 2026, with flights bookable from summer 2026. Additional aircraft follow through 2027, and WK expects its entire A350 fleet to feature the new cabin by summer 2027.

With the A350 program, WK signaled a clear shift toward a more premium, design-driven long-haul experience—one that aligns Swiss aesthetics with modern leisure travel expectations.
