DALLAS — Global Entry kiosks and arrival processing will resume nationwide at 5:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, ending the temporary suspension that required many frequent international travelers to use standard passport-control lines.
KQ2 News reports that a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said DHS would “reactivat[e] Global Entry on March 11th at 5:00 AM ET,” framing the move as an effort to reduce traveler disruption during the ongoing DHS funding lapse.
Reason for global entry suspension
DHS originally halted Global Entry arrival processing on Feb. 22, 2026, citing emergency measures during the partial DHS shutdown and the reassignment of personnel to process the general traveling public.
The pause drew criticism from travel and airline industry groups, which argued the program is largely funded by user fees and helps reduce congestion while strengthening risk.
What travelers should expect
With Global Entry restored, eligible members can use kiosks at participating airports. Wait times may still vary based on staffing levels and passenger volume during peak international arrivals.
Aimed at frequent international travelers, Global Entry costs US$120 and is valid for 5 years, with accompanying minors paying free. The program includes TSA PreCheck.
